TO Cut or Not to Cut

We've hit yet another awkward baby stage.  The first was the strange male pattern baldness that occurred from about 4 weeks until 12 weeks of age.  Now it's the Toddler Girl's Grow-Out hair.  Her hair is no longer neatly short, yet we can't bear to cut.  She has some crazy cowlicks at her forehead area, making bangs seem like an inappropriate solution.  She has this SWOOP, Miniswoop

that I really love, but her swoop isn't long enough to stay neatly aside.  The ends sort of fly into her face.

So, we have a dilemma.  It seems as if we should cut, because she looks messy and unkempt much of the time, but we  will have to grow her hair beyond the messy point at SOME time in the future, why not now?  She won't really wear a clip or barrette for any length of time.

Sigh.  So what to do, Internet?  Do we cut?  Do we grow?

Effin' F

I am pissed.  I am SO pissed.

As I am leaving my place of employment and I have my family's best interests in mind, I applied for life insurance.

I thought it would be my brief dalliance with serotonin reuptake inhibitors or the ridiculous and tentative diagnosis of exercise induced asthma that drove me out of the best life insurance rates.  It was none of those things.  It was  the GESTATIONAL DIABETES.  You know, the little problem I had when I was pregnant with TRIPLETS.  That was completely controlled by diet.

And not only did my rate increase, it increased MORE THAN HALF.  The original quote was $75 per month for a 20 year term, the GD quote (the standard non-smoker rate) was $130!!!!! per month.  This is significantly higher than my J, who is RATED at lower than standard with ehr individual plan.  I. don't. get. it.  And the agent tried to rationalize it that, hmmm, the difference is only $55 per month.   That's $1.83 per day, less than a cup of coffee.  Except that I don't BUY a cup of coffee each day.  I could send a small child to school in a third world country for less than that.  I could feed his/her family for one month for that.  I would RATHER spend the money on that, than being ripped-off for a disorder I no longer even HAVE and am unlikely to develop, especially in the freaking 20 year term of the life insurance.

I run 3-4 times per week, and if I haven't lost the last 10-15 lbs of baby weight, I'm certainly not obese.

Gah.  I'm getting more quotes and another exam and application completed through another company.   I haven't felt so defeated about something for a long, long time.
